Bruce Almighty was all-powerful at the box office this Memorial Day weekend.  The Jim Carrey comedy took in $86.4 million during the Friday-to-Monday period, according to studio estimates.  That's nearly double what The Matrix Reloaded picked up during its second week.  The Wachowski Bros. sci-fi sequel added approximately $45.6 to give it a two week total of around $210 million.
Eddie Murphy's Daddy Day Care was bumped to the third spot with $18 million, while X2 fell to fourth place.  The comic book sequel has grossed about $192 million since it opened four weeks ago.
The Warner Bros. comedy, The In-Laws, debuted in fifth with $9.1 million.
Down with Love, the off-beat romantic comedy starring Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, was sixth in its third week of release with $5.1 million.
While the behind-the-scenes tumult raged, Disney's The Lizzie McGuire Movie picked up another $4 million.  It's earned $37.3 million to date.  But don't look for a sequel to the tween-targeted film (not to mention further TV show episodes), Disney has officially dropped Lizzieafter a dispute with star Hilary Duff over salary and the direction of her burgeoning career.
Another Disney flick, Holes, held fast in eighth place with $3 million.  That film, based on an award-winning book, has grossed $60 million in six weeks.
Two Sony films rounded out the top ten.  Identity was ninth with $2.6 million, and Anger Management placed tenth with $2.4 million.
