In 2007, there was some controversy about her. There was policy case in KK Nagar Police Station, Chennai, alleging that she has been kidnapped by Arun, her manager. She traveled to Rajamundri for Telugu movie shooting and did not turn up since then. On interrogation with Arun, he told the police that Preeti Varma wanted to get away from her mom Ramya and dad Bharath Kumar. Arun helped her and took her to Mumbai.
At MumbaiAirport she disappeared for which Arun made a police complaint. On Arun instance, the Chennai police interrogated Vijay, supposed to lover of Preeti Varma. Vijay admitted that he was in love with Preeti, but she did not returned the same love. Preeti was just needed support. Vijay led the police to Magendran. Vijay said, Preeti having affair with Magendran. Magendran is jeweler businessman. But Magendran clear his stand that he had no hand in disappearance of Preeti.
Later the police discovered a letter written by Preeti. In this letter, Preeti disclosed that her mother is pushing her in flesh trade. Her mother is asking her to sleep around with traders and businessman. Because of this, she is running away from home on her own to marry her boyfriend. The latest being that she is returned to Chennai and is working for BPO company.
